User Interface Principles
User interface design requires a good understanding of the user needs. The dynamic characteristics of a system are described in terms of the dialogue requirements contained in seven principles of part 10 of the ergonomics standard (ISO 9241 standard).The information content is conveyed quickly and accurately.
The displayed information can be distinguished accurately.
Users are not overloaded with extraneous information.
A unique design, conformity with user's expectation.
The user's attention is directed towards information required.
Information is easy to read.
The meaning is clearly understandable, unambiguous, interpretable, and recognizable.
Types Of User Interfaces
- Graphical User Interface (GUI)
- Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Menu-Driven User Interface (MDI)
- Touch User Interface (TUI)
- Voice User Interface (VUI)
- Form-Based User Interface (FBI)
- Natural Language User Interface (NLI)
User Interface Components
Interface controls are things like Buttons, text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdown lists, list boxes, toggles, date field.
Navigational interface are things like Breadcrumb, slider, search field, pagination, slider, tags, icons.
Informational interface are things like Tooltips, icons, progress bar, notifications, message boxes, modal windows.
Interface containers are things like Accordion, grids, regions.
